The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has notified IronBridge Construction, Inc of Chesterfield, Virginia that they have been awarded a design build contract for a new Fire and Emergency Services Center (FESC) located at Radford Army Ammunition Plant (RFAAP) at Radford, Virginia. The solicitation for the project came out under a previous Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) awarded to IronBridge earlier in 2009. There are 6,901 acres and 1,038 buildings at the RFAAP, which manufactures a wide variety of propellants and provides a domestic manufacturing capability critical to the needs of the nation’s armed forces.
Once completed, this state of the art facility will provide consolidated Fire, Safety and Security Facility to support firefighters’ mission to provide fire and security to installation facilities and surrounding areas, and fire prevention education and training. The new emergency facility will be a complete and functional single-story building, 15,617 square feet, and located on 2.9 acres of Government-owned land at RFAAP.
